We find inspiration in different places. Lately, I’ve been really working hard on being able to be consistent with the blog. I’ve been trying to be super consistent with producing three articles a week. I’ve been trying to promote the articles every day. Schedule articles in advance.
But where do you find the inspiration to work harder on the blog?
I find it through you, my readers. Thinking about those who would see my blog and read my articles inspires me to work harder.
I find it through twitter. All of my twitter friends, yes, I consider them friends, inspire me. Fellow bloggers working just as hard as me. Indie authors who are working to get their work out there to the public. Unpublished authors trying to go through the “old fashion” publication routes. They all inspire me as they talk about their struggles, promote their own work, write about building a blog (yes, I read their articles).
I find it through self-help books. I devour books of all kinds. Lately, I’ve gotten into self-help books. They give me new paths to try when attempting to make a change or reach a goal.
I find it through fiction books. I find it through reading about a determined protagonist or cunning antagonist. I find it through finding a new genre such as flash fiction (read my review on my first experience with Flash fiction here). I find inspiration everywhere I look BECAUSE I am LOOKING for it.
Inspiration doesn’t have to come from the obvious. It doesn’t have to make sense to others. It just needs to push you towards your goal. It needs to increase your drive to accomplish your goal. Where I find inspiration can look extremely different from where others find their inspiration.
What is the next step?
Well, once you find inspiration..You have to use it. Finding inspiration and just sitting on it accomplishes nothing. Sitting on it doesn’t get my blog articles written, my blog promoted, or my engagement increased. It grows old and boring. It stops being inspirational. The next step is putting it into practice.
What is your current inspiration?
Right now, it’s Basket Case by Lexi Vranick. Reading her work inspired me to want to complete mine. I put it into action by opening my WIP and writing out the next scene. Seeing others’ product of writing in production like that is so inspiring to me. One day, I want it to be my novel that has been my baby for years, and I can’t wait to see it published.
Another piece of inspiration I have currently is seeing others’ blogs. Seeing other people promote their newest blog post, reading others’ blog posts, and exploring different blogs always gets me motivated to work on my own blog. Seeing the consistency of others is what got me up at 4:30 am on my first day of my new job to work on drafting posts in order to not fall behind as I started a new adventure.
What inspires you? Tell me in the comments!
