Individual of the Week-Nikki

Starting off, introduce yourself to us. Tell us your name, job, and two fun facts about yourself.

My name is Nikki McCaig, I’m a freelance social media marketer and blogger! I have a little Schnoodle called Lily and am 100% addicted to coffee!

What is your current goal that you are working towards?

As much as I love to plan for the future, my overarching goal this year is to gain more exposure as a freelancer, and to take pride in the work that I do. I’m a visual person, and I have a series of lovely businesses I would love to work with – my goal is to eventually work with them and promote them to other good people.

What is one obstacle in your way of achieving above mentioned goal? And what is your plan in overcoming that obstacle?

I feel my obstacle is timing – finding and dedicating the right amount of time to pursue the goals I have and the clients I want. My plan to overcome it is simply to plan, to organise myself better and divide my time better between work and play.

Why is your goal so important to you?

I feel like my goal matters to me on several levels, from a personal dream to a professional aspiration. Personally, and perhaps selfishly, I would take pride in the notoriety of a successful client base, proving my worth in the industry and extended my social network. Professionally, I would love to help small brands with a small voice to build a brand that can see them through difficult times and promote them to the best kind of audience.

Who is your role model? Why?

My role model is not one person, but every person working through difficult times. The people who sit down with a coffee and plough on through emotional moments, the tricky times, the busy days and the latest nights. The women who look amazing the day after a late night and the entrepreneurs that have found the perfect balance between work and family life.

What is one cause/issue you think is important to bring awareness to and why?

Mental health in every person, no matter their age, gender, race or lifestyle. The world is full of people with their own individual struggles and more people should be able to access therapy, counselling, mental health help and medication. With the NHS being as stretched as it is, raising awareness of the waiting lists and low budgets for mental health help in the UK needs to be a priority when it comes to supporting individuals.

What is one thing you do to relax or relieve stress?

I love a good bubble bath, or a nice cup of tea and book to get stuck into. Curling up in my favourite squishy armchair and a blanket calms me down like nothing else!

Do you have any guilty pleasures? If so, what are they?

I think my only guilty pleasures are coffee and late night Youtube stalking. I love a good crime mystery and the unsolved cases are my favourite ones to get stuck into!

Who are your favorite bloggers and what drew you into their blog?

I have to include Hannah Maggs in my list of favourite bloggers as I love her content and her family life. She went through so much at such a young age and she’s now grown up to be an amazing mum and an inspiration woman. I also love Hello October, Lily Pebbles, The Anna Edit and WishWishWish as they both inspire me daily with their lovely content and style.
